Lammermoor Native Gardens
These informal gardens cover an extensive area in the heart of Lammermoor and includes a surprising number of distinct habitats with a large number of resident bird species, the gardens are cared for by the Livingstone Remnant Vegetation Group (RemVeg), a dedicated mob of environment enthusiasts who quietly go about restoring neglected areas like these gardens. I come here once or twice a week to photograph the birds and plants and find it relaxing and refreshing to be in the peace and silence of the bush in a place so close to town. The gardens are a credit to those who maintain them and are yet another example of the important work that volunteers do in our community.

A section of the gardens in the process of revegetation, this area is developing into dryer open woodland and when compared to the other photos of the gardens illustrates the diversity of habitats here.
This wetland area adjoining the southern side of the gardens is, I think, private property that has been made a bird sanctuary and complements the range of habitats found in the gardens.
