Access to Waterpark Creek National Park from Byfield Rd. is by an unsealed but well maintained 2km road, the park is set in natural rainforest along waterpark Creek, for day visitors picnic, toilet and electric barbecue facilities are provided while overnighters can choose either spacious sites suitable for caravans or intimate campsites tucked away in small forest clearings.
Bowenia circuit is a gentle 1.2km track from the northern end of the picnic area and winding through rainforest and over creeks along Waterpark Creek, the outstanding feature of the walk is the profusion of Byfield Fern or Bowenia serrulata an ancient relative of the cycads found only in the Byfield area. Waterpark Creek has some terrific swimming spots and is very popular among Capricorn Coast residents for the relief it provides from our summer heat. |
