Byfield State Forest |
|
| |
There are three National Parks in the Byfield State Forest which is about 40 klm. north of Yeppoon on Byfield Road.
a sealed and well maintained road. The roads into the parks themselves are unsealed and vary according to the seasons/maintenance schedules, however they are not 4 wheel drive tracks and with ordinary care present no problems. They have good picnic and camping facilities, even for small caravans, and their greenery and coolness can be a refreshing change from the heat and glare of the coast. |

This area is very popular having a large picnic area with gas barbecues on one side of the creek and an open plan camping area on the other side. Picnic, toilet and wood-fired barbecues are provided but you do need to bring your own fuel if camping. In summer if water levels are high the creek is a great place to cool off.
