the idea behind this ring was to illustrate in a simple abstract way the structure of a ribbon reef and its reticulated form that allows water to circulate through and reach every living cell bringing nutrients and removing waste. Similar structures occur in all multi-celled organisms, our circulatory system and our kidneys are good examples.

this is an abstraction of hard coral spawning, visually the ring produces the calming effects of rythm and repetition that are among the fundamental elements of design and aesthetics.
