Kemp Beach and Double Head

Kemp Beach is the southern side of Rosslyn Bay and the small isthmus that connects Double Head to the mainland. The beach shelves more steeply than the Rosslyn Bay end so you don't need to wade out too far to find deeper water, it also gets a bit of surf up, occasionally, and on a day like the one in the photo pretty much embodies what we expect of a Queensland tropical beach. This photo was taken from near the pinic facilities described on the right.

Kemp Beach and Bluff Point National Park

This photo was taken from the Double Head track, the headlands at each end of Kemp Beach protect it and allow sand to build up especially on this end which is quite shallow and extends well out at low tide. There are BBQ and picnic facilities behind the beach at the right end of Bluff Head where a 2.3 km. walking track begins. The track forms a loop with two lookouts from one of which turtles can be seen in the water below.
