Wetland Birds

Though often found elsewhere the birds in this section are those most likely, and most abundantly, found in wetlands, these are areas of land whose soil is saturated with moisture either permanently or seasonally and may also be covered partially or completely by shallow pools of salt, fresh or brackish water. On the Capricorn Coast the most important wetlands are between Corio Bay and Capricorn Resort but there are others in the Hedlow district, on the landward side of mangroves and along the Fitzroy River.
